Image
twlv, thank you for taking this interview! Is there anything you’d like to say to your international fans? Hi bbs you know what time it is! It's twlv. My new song Excuses is available on every platform and my new EP 'Neo Seoul' is coming soon What was your favourite part of creating your latest song ‘Excuses’? Actually, I like every part. It takes 30minutes to write the song. The whole melody is from my first freestyle and I just added edited a few lyrics on it. I literally go with the flow with it. And i put my real true stories in the lyrics(the last songs were not 100% real) so I really enjoyed writing lyrics. Also, Shooting MV was so interesting 😂 you feel me? Is there anything planned for the remainder of 2021? Not really I got heartbreak last year and I used that as my inspiration. So I spent time making the new EP 'Neo Seoul' What did you aim to portray in ‘Excuses’? I just wanted to be 100% myself. This is all from my heart. Sound and lyrics are what I like...

What was your favourite part of making your latest song ‘Look Back’? Looking back, you become nothing enough to be forgotten” from the lyrics is presented my experience with the most powerful word. We are struggling in our life many times. Especially for me, I should deal with my self when I work on the music. But if we look back, everything will be ok. Again, I would say ‘ Well. It will be alright.    Who would be your ideal collaboration? PH-1, Sumin, Yumdda, Sogumm etc. Well..It doesn't matter to anyone if the style matches me.   What have you got planned for the rest of 2021? I’m planning to release more then one song every month.   What do you like doing in your spare time?  Actually, I don’t have enough time to spend on making music these days. Most of the day I work for a living. Of course, the money that I earned could be used for making music. I only work on the music when I have extra time.   I can see you recently left Vine Entertainment, what do...

The Chain G on Wicked Night, studying and Dua Lipa!

Image
What was your favourite part of making your new album? The work of making an album is always amazing. But the reason I was happier about making [WICKED NIGHT] is that I was able to express my true self. What did you most enjoy about filming the music videos for ‘Wicked Night’ & ‘Love Again’? About 50 staff worked hard to shoot my music video. It was a great memory because it was the first time that so many people helped me. What is your favourite song from the album? All songs are precious, but personally, I love the last track "(That) I'm gonna give it to you" the most. Because it is the only bright music on the album. lol Who did you enjoy collaborating the most with on the album? I can't choose anyone. Because they are such wonderful artists, and the collaboration with them has inspired me a lot. What is the meaning behind ‘Wicked Night’? The meaning of [WICKED NIGHT] is difficult to explain in one sentence. It expresses my past twenties and tried to capture my...

Tanontheice on his playlist, The Quiett & plans for 2021!

Image
Who inspired you to become a musician? Perhaps the musicians who inspired me the most are Beenzino and The Quiett. When I was in high school, I listened to jazzyfact's 'Lifes Like'. After that, I found all of Beenzino's songs and listened to them. People don't know much these days, but I even found a mixtape when Beenzino worked as a team called "hot clip." So I started writing lyrics for the first time. After that, Beenzino joined Illionaire, and I naturally listened to Illionaire's music. If Beenzino was flexible, Dok2 was colorful, and The Quiett was cool. Who is your ideal collaboration?  Of course, the collaboration I'm dreaming of is Beenzino and The Quiett. And there is one more friend who started rapping because of me while attending university. It's a friend named Jehn. When I played my music, he said he wanted to rap. And the first lyrics and work he wrote, It was better than my work. Maybe this year or next year, he will make his d...

J.cob reveals the meaning behind his stage name & what's on his playlist!

Image
Hello J.cob, I’m a huge fan of your work! For people who haven’t heard of you before how would you describe your music? Thank you for contacting me first and finding me. It may be obvious, but I want to tell someone that my music is music that can be a source of strength and a brief pleasure in life. I can see you have recently collaborated with Rakiyah, how was that experience? I was so happy that she contacted me first, and I was happy throughout the work, thankfully, she listened to my verse well, and I think that's why we're all satisfied with the song. You recently released your new song ‘Pandora’, could you describe what the song means to you? "Pandora" is a song about Pandora's box, which may not be a good meaning, but it's simply a mysterious box. So I was able to stretch my imagination. I wanted to compare my room to Pandora's box. Goldskin & Young Won are your label mates, what was the story behind how you met ? I got to know Young Won throug...

Jay Kim reflects on 2020, name change & new music!

Image
What have you got planned for 2021? For 2021 most importantly i'm ready to release the best select few from the songs i recorded towards the latter half of 2020. i rebranded myself from jay2thekim to jay kim so a lot was pushed back music wise. other than that i plan to shoot music videos which i've been having a tough time doing partly due to covid but also due to struggling to find the right director and crew, i want my music videos to be in contention with any artist's videos for visual of the year. I can see from your Soundcloud you have collaborated with Dayrick? How was that experience? I think Dayrick reached out to me through instagram around december of 2019 after he came across my soundcloud. It had actually taken a few months of him sending me pack after pack of beats until he sent the beat that would eventually turn into HxH Jacket. From there him, me and Effie made Selfish which is one of my most favorite collaborations to date. He's a insanely talented gu...

MAN1AC reflects on working with Jay Park & Jessi & what to expect in 2021!

Image
What was is the one thing 2020 has taught you? I can’t boil it down to just one thing, I feel that I’ve learned so much about everything and everybody around me. Trust nobody, friends come and go, and family time is priceless!! I also learned that being alone sometimes is healing and peaceful once you lose the fear of being alone. Is there a smaller artist that you have had your eye on recently? Smaller?  If you mean artists with potential but didn’t get the buzz yet, yes.  That is why kode82 was created. The members you see there are the members I see potential in and of course we plan on expanding. Other than your own music, who else do you enjoy listening too? For the record, I don’t enjoy listening to my music once it's out. LOL I enjoy 90'~2000s r&b hip hop. Still listen to pac, biggie. I also dig Meek, tory lanez, drake etc.. What is your favourite song from your discography and what song would you recommend people listen too if they haven’t ...

CIKA talks... corona, inspiration & the future!

Image
Hello CIKA! Feel free to introduce yourself to the planets! Hello! My name is CIKA and I am 24 years old. HIP-HOP, R&B, I live in Seoul. Did I tell you? What is the meaning behind your song ‘Sweety’? It doesn't mean much. It's just a nickname for a love song. I wanted to use a nickname, but HONEY wouldn’t work, because it was a bit funny and old-fashioned. In the case of DARLING, I think it's too obvious. SWEETY is.. young? I picked it because I felt like ‘this is it’. What was your favourite part about filming the music video for ‘Sweety’? The thing I liked the most about SWEETY video… of course I had to do it because it's work-related. It was hard. I don't like to go out and work (haha) But the best thing was that I was with my friend, POLO. So it was so fun to be with my friends, I liked talking and laughing at the set a lot.  Other than your music, who else have you been listening too lately? The song I've been listening to lately is ASAP...
