My new song Excuses is available on every platform and my new EP 'Neo Seoul' is coming soon What was your favourite part of creating your latest song ‘Excuses’? Actually, I like every part. It takes 30minutes to write the song. The whole melody is from my first freestyle and I just added edited a few lyrics on it. I literally go with the flow with it. And i put my real true stories in the lyrics(the last songs were not 100% real) so I really enjoyed writing lyrics. Also, Shooting MV was so interesting 😂 you feel me? Is there anything planned for the remainder of 2021? Not really I got heartbreak last year and I used that as my inspiration. So I spent time making the new EP 'Neo Seoul' What did you aim to portray in ‘Excuses’? I just wanted to be 100% myself. This is all from my heart. Sound and lyrics are what I like...

What was your favourite part of making your new album? The work of making an album is always amazing. But the reason I was happier about making [WICKED NIGHT] is that I was able to express my true self. What did you most enjoy about filming the music videos for ‘Wicked Night’ & ‘Love Again’? About 50 staff worked hard to shoot my music video. It was a great memory because it was the first time that so many people helped me. What is your favourite song from the album?   Who inspired you to become a musician? Perhaps the musicians who inspired me the most are Beenzino and The Quiett. When I was in high school, I listened to jazzyfact's 'Lifes Like'. After that, I found all of Beenzino's songs and listened to them. People don't know much these days, but I even found a mixtape when Beenzino worked as a team called "hot clip." So I started writing lyrics for the first time. After that, Beenzino joined Illionaire, and I naturally listened to Illionaire's music. If Beenzino was flexible, Dok2 was colorful, and The Quiett was cool. Who is your ideal collaboration?  Of course, the collaboration I'm dreaming of is Beenzino and The Quiett. And there is one more friend who started rapping because of me while attending university. It's a friend named Jehn. When I played my music, he said he wanted to rap. And the first lyrics and work he wrote, It was better than my work. Maybe this year or next year, he will make his d...

Hello J.cob, I’m a huge fan of your work! For people who haven’t heard of you before how would you describe your music? Thank you for contacting me first and finding me. It may be obvious, but I want to tell someone that my music is music that can be a source of strength and a brief pleasure in life. I can see you have recently collaborated with Rakiyah, how was that experience? I was so happy that she contacted me first, and I was happy throughout the work, thankfully, she listened to my verse well, and I think that's why we're all satisfied with the song. You recently released your new song ‘Pandora’, could you describe what the song means to you? "Pandora" is a song about Pandora's box, which may not be a good meaning, but it's simply a mysterious box. So I was able to stretch my imagination. I wanted to compare my room to Pandora's box. Goldskin & Young Won are your label mates, what was the story behind how you met ? I got to know Young Won throug...

What have you got planned for 2021? For 2021 most importantly i'm ready to release the best select few from the songs i recorded towards the latter half of 2020. i rebranded myself from jay2thekim to jay kim so a lot was pushed back music wise. other than that i plan to shoot music videos which i've been having a tough time doing partly due to covid but also due to struggling to find the right director and crew, i want my music videos to be in contention with any artist's videos for visual of the year. I can see from your Soundcloud you have collaborated with Dayrick? How was that experience? I think Dayrick reached out to me through instagram around december of 2019 after he came across my soundcloud. It had actually taken a few months of him sending me pack after pack of beats until he sent the beat that would eventually turn into HxH Jacket. From there him, me and Effie made Selfish which is one of my most favorite collaborations to date. He's a insanely talented gu...
